Welcome to the world of the ‘Short Coffin’, where all sides have the same edge length.

The Coffin shape is simply another variation of the Hexagon and all the usual classic Hexagon patterns, like Grandmothers Flower Garden, can be made using the ‘regular’ shaped Coffin shapes (no matter whether they are short or long!). They give these patterns a little more interest, as the whole pattern appears to be ‘stretched’ or ‘squished’ when made with Coffins (rather than Hexagons).

The Short Coffin shape (which is very reminiscent of a ‘Barrel’) can also be used in striped patterns of ‘stacked barrels’, which are a great pattern for a scrap quilt!
